【Report & Bulletin】Borneo Traditional Dance Show and Workshop

Attended by Lai Chai Ei (President) and Loo Chi Wern (Bureau of Social and Culture) on 11 June 2012.

This event was held in Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) and the guest performers are from Persatuan Warisan Sarawak, as a part of their Borneo Culture Your Japan 2012, with Dr Laurence John (President of PWS) leading the team.

The objective of this tour is to showcase Borneo culture and heritage in the land of the rising sun. The dancers are from Sanggar Budaya Miri, winner of Ethnic Dance during Borneo Hornbill Festival 2011.

Besides dance performance, there were also a Q&A session and a brief introduction of tuak (traditional rice wine of Sarawak). Students and lecturers of TUFS participated actively in the session.

After the event there was a short meeting between one of the directors of TUFS and PWS to promote a better understanding between two parties.

As for MSAJ, we were actually there to assist on the logistics. We managed to get some valuable connection with TUFS also PWS. It was fun.
