On 1st June 2013 (Saturday), 30 students were invited to to have a dinner with our new Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Dato’ Hamzah Zainudin at Acero Room, Banquet Floor, Hotel New Otani, Tokyo.
The event started at 7.15PM, with the arrival of YB Dato’ Hamzah Zainudin and his delegates who were escorted by Malaysian Embassy representatives. The event was attended by approximately 23 students.
MSAJ’s representative gave a Welcome Speech and made a presentation on the activities organized by Malaysian students in Japan. In the speech, she urged for more engagement and support for students in organizing activities in Japan as it is indirectly developing their leadership skills.
After that, the guest of honour gave a speech as well. In YB Dato Hamzah Zainudin’s speech, he touched on his personal background and the current political situation in Malaysia. He expressed his hope on young Malaysians returning and supporting the present government. He also announced that an allocation of 100,000 yen fund will be given to MSAJ in his support for student activities.
During the dinner, they discussed about the current condition of Malaysia and YB Dato’ Hamzah Zainudin fielded questions concerning our beloved country to the students. This event provided an opportunity for students to catch up with one another and getting to know Malaysian Embassy staffs better.
In a nutshell, the engagement session between Malaysian leaders and students created an excellent platform for students in Japan in augmenting the students’ knowledge about our country to a higher level.
