On Saturday, 4 April 2015, MSAJ has organized a hanami (cherry blossom viewing) and welcoming party in collaboration with Kelab UMNO Luar Negara (KULN). This event was held at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, located in Shinjuku, one of the favorite spots for Hanami with a large number of crowds. As it was the peak (full bloom) for Sakura blossom, MSAJ grabbed this golden opportunity to organize this event with the purposes of welcoming new juniors and letting Malaysians to mingle with each other.
We managed to secure a spot near to Shinjuku Gate at around 9 a.m. as the event began at around 11 a.m. More than 50 people from Malaysia came to the event. The party started with the distribution of Bento by KULN to everyone and the commencement of the photography competition and explorace game. In explorace game, the participants made the groups of 4 to 6 people. Then, they were asked to take 3 photos of flowers and place that’s available around the park by the hint given. The hint is green house, Japanese garden and rose garden. The game started at around 13:00 p.m and the first 3 groups which completed the missions are winners. The submission for photography competition was closed at around 14.00 p.m. a prize-giving ceremony was held at 14:30. The prizes for explorace winners were a bag of snacks and the prizes for the 3 photography competition’s winners were Polaroid camera, sd card and monopod.
Despite the cloudy weather, the event went smoothly thanks to the cooperation and warm greetings from everyone. We certainly hope that this event will continue to be an annual welcoming party for Malaysians in Japan.
